Opener destinations

Recommended Posts

Just curious where everyone plans on spending their opener for bass this year? I'm sure some have little lakes that need to remain a secret. But for those going to known bass haunts, where are you headed? I'll probably stick close to home and head to one of the chisago/lindstrom area lakes.

Hiya -

Well...I'll be in SW Minnesota wading for channel cats in a small tributary of the Minnesota River... smile

My 89 year old father-in-law is a WW II veteran - he was a mechanic in the Army Air Force and worked on B-25 Mitchells and B-24 Liberators. He's in the Legion in my wife's hometown, and we go down every year for the Memorial Day ceremony. Won't miss it as long as he's around. Bass will still be there the next weekend I'm sure.

(Plus, small river channel cats really are a riot. Fish them with slip bobbers and they hit so hard you can sometimes hear the bobber go under... *ka-bloop*. Catch creek chubs for bait first, then use them for the cats. It's full on reverting to being a 10 year old. I come in from fishing covered in mud and have to wash myself down with the garden hose before I'm allowed in the house. Freaking love it... laugh )
