4 wheel SUVs

wahoo

Recommended Posts

Am looking to purchase a 4 wheel drive vehicle for fishing in Winter. I have a Dodge 3/4 ton 4 wheel diesel and will keep it, but am looking for something a bit lighter.

The Jeep Rubicon seems to have it all. But, what experiences have you had with "plain" jeeps, (not Rubicons) Toyota FJs, etc. The Rubicon has the disconnecting anti sway bars and allows more choices in controlling the 4WD with independent controls. Is the sway bar disconnect an advantage in snow?

thanks.

I see no advantage of being able to disconnect your sway bar for the snow. This is a nice option if you plan on using the Jeep back home for Rock Crawling though.

For the snow all you need is traction and clearance.

Thanks much. I do not do rock crawling. Just wish to get through snow--using common sense of course. It does seem the older Jeep Cherokees with the ability to lock out various axle configurations worked well. But, perhaps the modern axles as designed take this into consideration.

I find the AWD on some supposed SUVs a joke.

What do the track units sell for? I have seen them on vehicles other than those you list.
