Wisconsin Introductory License Fees

So today I went to Gander to pick up my WI fishing license.. I haven't fished beyond the tracks in Wisconsin since I was under the age of 16 and didn't need a license.. I walk in expecting to pay $60.. $50 for the non-res + $10 inland trout stamp.. Anyways.. The cashier goes "Well since it's your first WI license they discount you" and my non-res license was only $27.50! Guess this holds true for all of their hunting/fishing licensing.. And to my understanding it just recently started.. Since a buddy of mine got his WI license earlier this year and did not receive a discount..

Anyone else heard of this? Or know what it's exactly called? Seems like a smart move by WI.. If only they made folks aware of such a thing

It was a late addition (I think March of this year) and was only published on the DNR HSOforum, very subtlety at that. It applies to either first timers or those who haven't had one in over 10 years (resident or non-resident). I also think if you can recruit 3 first time license buyers they will mail you a check for $20. Not sure how that part of it works though.
