Sorry no pics as they were too crafty for me.

1. small finch size bird. yellow head with a deep gold cheek. never seen before ever.

2. like a miniature oriole but deeper color, not bright orange more like a bronze or deep orange belly and such.

boy that's pretty close, if anything the gold on the cheek of the bird I saw was a bit smaller and a define oval below the eye. And the other bird is not a redstart. Picture like a brown headed cowbird but put the brown on the belly and make it more of a bronze not a brown. It is at my oranges and jelly just like the orioles. Im puzzled.

Hmmmm...now what you're describing sounds more like an orchard oriole. They're smaller than the Baltimore and generally where the Baltimore is orange, the orchard oriole is more of a chocolate brown. They're around and seem to be becoming more common than they once were.
