Double duty Rod/Reel?

Recommended Posts

I just ordered a Dobyns 704cb glass and I'm waiting on a 201dpv to arrive. Anyone have much experience with this rod/reel and if this rod will throw HJ's and SR 5&7's? Any line recommendations?

Bought this rod for cranking bass but I am wondering if it will chuck smaller walleye cranks.

Should chuck cranks fine but might be a bit limp and you will lose a bit of feel from the glass versus the graphite rods IMHO. I regularly use my salmon rods for boards and for long lining cranks with power pro to keep the cost down when fishing.

Just got the rod in today. It is pretty limpy, but feels nice in the hands. Just waiting for my reel. The reason I'm asking is I'll be having 3 people in the boat. Boats not the biggest and with a few trolling rods, a few bobber rods, and a few jigging rod per person, stuff adds up quick, debating if I should bring it along or not. Last thing I'd want is someone stepping on the tip of a new rod when trying to net that big eye. Reason I got the rod is there are some killer deals right now, $60-80 off Dobyns can be had atm, brand new, price matched by a reputable online retailer. Is it Friday yet?
