Tom7227
Could someone please give me the points I need to know on how to do this. I've done it on my old motor but it was a very old 90 hp and I'm sure this is different. I presume I can go and buy a kit with the proper impeller and gasket. I also assume that I'm going to end up replacing the lower unit oil. Thanks for your time. Tom
boatfixer
You'll find a total of 5 bolts holding it on. 2 on each side and 1 above the prop. To un-do the shift shaft, you will find a long nut (hyman type) and a jam nut. (tip, count the threads left showing under jam nut- this will help during reassembly), loosen jam nut, using an open end wrench (10mm), turn long nut to unthread it. Remove case, remove impeller housing and replace impeller. Reverse the steps to reassemble. It is not nessesary to replace gearlube. However if its due to be changed then go ahead. Tom7227
Bruce,Thank you for the info. I will take a crack at it on Tuesday. I will be interested in seeing how I can drop the lower end of the shaft and not get into the gear lube. I hope I can find the parts locally.Tom
