HandGunner
When is a good time to use swimbaits? I have 5 inch swimbaits that have never seen action would like to land somthing on them and when is bass openner? Ive caught bass big enough to take one of my swimbaits but i never ever use em realy since i dont know wen and were tO use them i mainly fish ponds for bass and they get pretty big short but fat bass. Also has this jumping weather been affecting fish movement and spawning? Or are things still on track would like to go fish crappies and sand bass but cant tell if the weather has been affecting them much or if they are on track with their movement and behaviour. Ome moment its been nice for a few days that i can catch fish all of a sudden its too cold that i hear from friends that they catch nothing, weather goes from 36 to 50 to 70 in just days and does not stay consistant so im lost on what the fish are doing

Deitz Dittrich
yup, the guys and gals in the bass forum would love to help out.http://www.hotspotoutdoors.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/57/1/Bassthat said.. your best bet for the 5" swim bait will be early spring as they come off of post spawn, and then again late in the fall.. however, any time you can get it wet it has a chance of catching a fish.Bass opener is split depending on where you are.05/12/12 - 02/24/13 Smallmouth Bass-2012 season-North and East of U.S. Hwy 53 from Duluth to International Falls and Pelican and Ash lakes in St. Louis County05/26/12 - 02/24/13 Largemouth Bass-2012 season-South and West of U.S. Hwy 53 from Duluth to International Falls and Pelican and Ash lakes in St. Louis Countyso for the most part... may 26th.. is bass opener. mainbutter
May 26 is bass opener for most of the state.Use swimbaits over submerged weed beds, along breaks with changing depth, and along the weed edges for success chasing largemouth bass and northern pike.Using swimbaits from shore has not given me much success.I had my best luck last year around opener. Tator2k
I always have something like a money minnow on a rod ready to go. As everyone else said. I run it along transitions, edge of weed lines and such.
