Trolling Reels

Has anybody had good luck with the Cabelas Depthmaster Gold Trolling reels?

I want to get a nice mid range trolling reel possibly a combo and I'm wondering if they are a good deal or not. Also, do they have a clicker?

it doesn't really say in the cabelas ad if they do or not but the picture looks like they do.

I have four of the Gold reels and love them! I've got two 45s and two 30s and haven't had a lick of trouble with either one. Next time they go on sale I will be picking up two more.

The Gold reel is made by Okuma and I believe it's a cousin to the Convector. I am very happy with them and would only trade up to get a Shimano Tekota.

I'm still using 2 Herter's reels that are as old as me I think and they work great for muskie trolling with 80# braided.

I have one Gold and can compare them to the Daiwa Sealines. They are roughly the same price. Both are good trolling reels. Biggest difference is the click (both loud and soft) on the Daiwas vs silent and loud on the Cabelas. I feel the drags are comparable.

+1 on the gold. I have had one for 10+ years, not a lick of trouble.
