Anyone having radio interference from thier HDS?

norma

Question

I am getting a lot of interference from my HDS on my VHF radio. Specificaly from the ethernet port. if I disconect the ethernet, interference goes away. Anyone else experiencing this? What did you do to fix. I've replaced antenna, re-routed cables and updated. Sent an email to Lowrance, see if they respond.

That's wierd I think I have the same issue. I just installed a new HDS10 on the boat and I was getting all sorts of feedback on the VHF radio. I didn't think too much about it until now,...hmmmmmm confused

VHF radios can be tricky to deal with.

If you haven't already done this, wire your VHF directly to your starting battery ..... and I mean directly to the battery, not through a buss or anything like that ...... and use 12 gauge or heavier wire. A good ground will clean up a lot of VHF problems.

Good luck getting it sorted out!

Recieved a response from Lowrance, Mine is an early model HDS unit. they have added filters to the newer ones. They are replacing my unit with a newer model.

Perchjerker, you are correct, the wires directly to the battery is the only way to properly wire in a VHF. But that didn't help in my case.
