xedge2002
Hi I'm currently looking into trainers for my yellow lab. I have been looking into Stevenson in Ramsey, Fine Line in Milaca and Duckwater retrievers in Howard Lake. Has anyone used any of them? Any feedback good, bad or other would be appreciated. Chaws
What are your expectations for this dog? Are you interested in competitions in either Hunt Tests or Field Trials or are you looking to end up with a good hunting dog?I would personally recommend either Matt Johnson over at Duckwater or Tim Springer at Dynamic Retrievers. Both do an excellent job training dogs. Tim trains in the summer months by Hugo, MN. Rick Stawski at Fine Line does a good job as well but he's primarily focused on field trial training. xedge2002
I am primarily looking for just hunting work I don't have any intention of doing field trials or anything like that. I already talked to Tim at Dynamic Retrievers and he told me he was full for the summer.
duckbuster
How old is your dog?I believe Matt is only taking young dogs, under the age of 2. I think you might want to consider Wings & Whistles out of Watertown-Mayer area I believe if you are looking strictly for a gun dog.GOOD LUCK
Todd Caswell
Quote:Rick Stawski at Fine Line does a good job as well but he's primarily focused on field trial training. Rick had a half dozen or so gun dogs last summer, they basically get put through the same yard program as the trial dogs and then the program gets tweeked from there, Rick has han an assistant for the past two years "Trey" and he does a great job with the gun dogs, there kinda his project and sometimes I think they might get more work than the trial dogs because of the work they get after the normal day is done.. Iv'e had a couple different dogs with Rick for the past 6 winters and have always been happy with the results, give me a shoot if you have any questions about fineline or i can get you his cell number he should be home around 25th. of April..Todd218-821-0402
xedge2002
My dog is going to be 2 this summer, he's had some training done just needs to take the next step and some refreshing. I emailed Rick at Fineline a while back and haven't heard anything, must be because he is still down south?

Might be because it is going to his email in MN vs his email in Fla. if you have some questions feel free to give me a call or like I said I can get you his cell.
