22x
Does anyone know of a SD public land/Walk in area atlas that is more user friendly than the 50+ meg download from the SD Game & Fish site? It isn't very detailed & is so small that my old eyes have a hard time with it Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Doug
rundrave
I responded to your post in the pheasant forum:I don't have any issues with viewing it via the web located here:http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/areas/maps/default.aspxYou can zoom in and out as needed. You could probably email them or request them to mail you the printed version. If not its available at just about every sporting goods store and some gas stations for free here in SD. 22x
Thanks for the reply. On a side note, I am planning a DIY trip with my son this fall & am wondering if there is decent public/WIA hunting near Redfield. I hunted there many years ago (on private) & it was pretty decent.Or should a guy go further south/west? Any help would be appreciated.ThanksDoug
rundrave
I shot birds in the Redfield area this last season all on public. Its hit or miss some days I saw them all over some days I didn't hardly see any.To be honest, last fall was a weird year for pheasant hunting it really bucked the trend. This winter however is shaping up so far to be really easy on the birds. If the spring stays dry and doesn't mess up the nesting process that will be key.Its hard to say how good next year will be yet for any given area. too many variables to determine yet.good luck
22x
Thanks for the info.Yep, last year was really weird.Understand all of the variables. Hopefully with the mild winter this will be a better fall.ThanksDoug
