Big Buddy Heater

I bought a big buddy heater yesterday. It is used and only 3 years old and hardly used. It was used with 1 lbs tanks only. It came with a cabelas cover for it. I got it for 40 bucks! I plan to run it with my 5 lbs tank. Is the quick connect 12' hose the way to go? I have a 5' hose now. I also read to run a filter when using remote tank. I only have 40 bucks into it so was thinking if it was worth getting that 12 ft quick hose I would. My brother got one of these a week ago and I was impressed how it heated his quick fish 6. I don't know how much it will get used this year as it is so warm but if my kids go out and it is nasty cold it will be a much safer option then my heater/ cooker and more heat then small buddy. Think I scored . smile

Get the 12 foot hose with quick connect and regulator at the other end. With the regulator you don't need a filter. Mr. Heater has a video on youtube that shows the hose options and part numbers. Be sure to check tightness of fittings on hose as I had one that was loose and leaked. After I tightened it, it ran fine. smile

The reason for the regulator is to lower the pressure on the hose. If you don't have it, the hose breaks down and then clogs the built in regulator which is why you need a filter.

Save yourself the hassle of replacing filters and buy the hose kit with the regulator grin

I think this is the best option. Will 1 hose run this heater? Does it need a T with hose to each side or is the pressure better from bigger tank and that is the only reason you need 2 1 lbs tanks,Lack of pressure.?

Hamms, get the 12' hose with the quick connect as you mentioned. Just thought I'd throw in that the reason for the 12' hose having a regulator is that there is not one inside of the heater from the quick connect. There is however a regulator for each one of the one pound cylinder fittings.

+ whatever number it is on the 12 foot hose with regulator. The quick connect fitting is not regulated on the buddy heater so its essential. The 12 foot hose allows you to leave the tank outside and out of the shelter creating more room. You will be happy you went this direction.
