Robin
Well it was a real cold start to the 2014 Laker season...but our extra hardy fishermen were out there anyway! On Lower Manitou we have at least 15 inches ice, NO SLUSH and not much snow on the ice making for good travel. Fishing was good!!
Robin
The Lake Trout action has been terrific since the opener Jan1!
Rich_Lorentzen
Its been a while since I've seen any reports on the Tou. I'm sure its been cold and heard about lots of snow. Any fresh report on coniditions would be appreciated. I'm planning a trip up there 3/1-3/4.Thanks!!
Robin
Rich...as of Monday there was between 2 and 2-1/2 ft of ice, you will need an extension for the auger. There is around 2 ft or so of snow on the ice, more in spots. Not much slush yet where we are , but with the big batch of snow coming, we will have to see. Lots of snow in the bush and on the trails. The fishing was a little slow to start, but picked up by end of stay. We go back hopefully tomorrow and can post another update.

Robin
Rich...Got back last night, a very tough trip and I urge you to use extreme caution. We had a very hard time snowmobiling in on our trail, if you get off it you submarine into waist deep snow. There also was a lot of wind and drifting in the open areas. The slush is coming up too, so be safe!

MNdreaMN
Robin,What are the water temps in the area? Any word on what the muskies are doing?MN
Robin
MN...the water temps on the big part of the lake are in the upper 50's, in the back bays about mid to upper 60's right now. We had warmer temps but the rains have dropped them quite a lot. Haven't heard too much yet from the Muskie fishermen. Robin
