I have the Heater/cooker and love it. get a hose to connect it to a 20lb tank and your good to go. I leave the tank in the sled. I put a little block of wood under the one end though to keep the heat off the ice and aim more on me. full-22777-15660-imag0360.jpg

Heater-cooker here also. If it is warmer out, I will use my buddy as I have had good luck with it. Does not take much for heat with my insulated Canvas craft portable. Above zero and the Buddy works fine. Colder and I go with the heater-coooker on the lowest setting.

My little buddy heater is giving me trouble, keeps shutting off on its own all the time. thinking of getting a 5# tank and a heater/cooker. What would you recommend?? thanks for the input!

Could it be that there is a built in Co sensor and it is sensing too much Co in your house and shuts of automaticaly? Ive heard of that hapening with the buddy heaters.

I used to have the heater/cooker until it started to omit to much co2 and I was coming home with coughing and a headache and shortness of breath. I switched to the big buddy and love it. I won't own another sunflower type heater again, to dangerous in my opinion.

I have a buddy and a heater/cooker with a hose and 5 pound tank. I love the heat of the second option serious heat! Especially in a 2 man ft guide. If its a bit warmer though I bring the buddy. Make sure to vent your shack alot when using the htr/ckr, Says right on there site not for indoor use to much carbon monoxide.. Be careful and it is a great source of heat.

I bought a Sunflower 11 years ago that attaches to my 20# tank. It has never failed me in all that time. Never had an issue with headaches etc, but as Harvey Lee stated I to leave my side vent open and it allows good air circulation.

+1 for the sunflower. Have had mine for 6+ years and never had a problem with it. I have the dual burner sunflower and only need to fire up the second burner on the really cold and windy nights, otherwise were fishing in short sleeves for the majority of the season. Just crack a window and your good to go.

Have you tried to clean the tube? Maybe it's just a blockage restricting the flow? Cheaper than buying a new unit.
