Chena Bait

I was watching Mid West Outdoors tonight and saw an advertisment for the Chena Bait. It looks like a piece of one inch wide rolled up leather(tough to describe) that you are able to break and put on your hook. From what I can tell you jig it like you would when fishing plastics.

Any one use this or have an opinion on the Chena Bait?

I used it for perch this past weekend and it worked great. I caught 20-25 on a small piece, the best part was when the waves of perch came in I wouldn't need to re-bait between each fish caught.

Yep, but its cut about as thick as tissue paper and really tuff. When I had it down a foot or two testing it hardly took any movement to make it float/flutter in the water. If you could shave pork rind that thin you would have something similar.

I thought it was seal skin or at least the original stuff is.

It is seal skin, it has a slight smell and is kinda' oily too. The smell isn't bad or anything but you can tell its real and not plastic. I was super happy with it this past weekend and am looking forward to trying it for sunnies and crappies.

Hey Mindak, where did you buy it? Did you have to order from their HSOforum or did you buy it from a brick and mortar?

I also saw the ad on Midwest outdoors and am intrigued.

I called the 920-398-3791 number and ordered it. The only catch was you need to order 3 packets so the price is about $15 shipped to your door, they take credit cards too. I called on a Tuesday and it was in my mailbox on Friday.

so does anyone think the pork rind would work if shaved thin? i may try it this weekend.

I would be willing to share some with anyone in the St Cloud area that wants to try it in exchange for a spot with a good daytime panfish bite (I'm at home with the four and six year olds while they are on Chrismas break and we need to get out of the house, DAD NEEDS TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE).
