Beginner Deer Hunter Book

Hey all, my buddy back in the Twin Cities is looking for a good book to help get him started deer hunting on his own.

I took him a couple times a few years ago and he shot a nice buck, but he's never hunted on his own. Any good book suggestions for him? Thanks

All of the Greg Miller books are great. They were written beforhe bcame a "celebrity" and when he was blue collar deer hunter. He did a ton of big woods hunting too. The first book was published in 1994. I just reread it and all info still pertains today.

Start out with:

1. Agressive Whitetail Hunting

2. Proven Whitetail Tactics

3. Rub Line Secrets

4. Bowhunting Forests and Deep Woods (optional)

When I first started hunting deer at age 12, back in the "60's, I read "Hunting the Whitetailed Deer" by Russel Tinsley over and over and over...I would still consider it a top choice for someone who is new to deer hunting...it covers all the basics of scouting and hunting without confusing a novice...it was originaly published by outoor life I believe...

My first book on whitetail hunting was from the NAHC (Hunting wisdom library)

Book: Whitetail success: Hunting hard, hunting smart.

I thought it was well writen, easy to follow and understand, and provided great tips and techniques...(on a side note, try to avoid the club IMO)
