heat checker
I just read an article on jigging with blade baits. Has anyone had any success with these?
GRH
Nope, they don't work. . I've used them a fare amount. I've had very good success on them at times. They sure crush them when they hit.
Cicada
During the winter, I always have a Reef Runner Cicada on. Like GRH said, when they go after them, they crush 'em.
jmg
Although we don't use them very often, we have caught some nice perch with them in open water while vertically jigging. I've also caught some northerns with them trolling and casting. But, as I said, we haven't used them very much. Just not enough time to wash everything off. whitebassman
was that article from MN Sportsman?Have had luck with white bass. Gotta be careful on hang ups, and need to retrieve quickly due to their heavier weight. But I'm thinking they'd be great for vertical jigging like the article mentions. Mike Walerak
I use blades all the time on rivers. I have caught fish all year long with them. Right now there is a good blade bite going on pool 4. I do vertical jig them but prefer to cast them. In the summer time I always have a siver one tied on to cast to feeding whitebass. If you cast them you will want to get the 1/8th oz. ones from Deanstacklebox if you email dean he will tell you what you need. He is a blade master himself. I have heard of guys using these mainly during colder water for vertical jigging in lakes. Give them a try you will become addicted.mw
jellio
I've never tried it but when I take the wife fishing I put one of those slip bobber setups made by Thill I believe the one with the tiny blade for her and she catch's fish with it usually perch or northern though. Ed Carlson
I use them quite a bit on dams in the spring, casting from shore. Especially at night in late spring. I also use chamber baits like Salmo Zippers in the spring and again in the fall in the same situation. In current walleye have a small window of time to react so such baits are good options to gain there attention.
slipperybob
Those Northland Live Forage traps are going to get a run this spring for me and see how they will perform.
