thatoneguy
i had one that was baked with cajun seasoning, and it was fantastic. i wouldn't ever keep one myself, but i wouldn't hesitate to eat one if it was offered to me.
jwmiller33
I'd imagine it would taste very similar to a northern pike
The_Seasock
I know guys that eat them all the time. Harder to get a lot of them since the size limit went on, but they say a 30 pound muskie tastes just as good as a small one and they get several meals from one. They always keep and eat all the big fish they catch and say 10 pound walleyes taste as good as a 2 pounder. Get lucky.
slipperybob
Once, and I'll say that I would prefer musky meat over a northern pike. But ice fishing for norther pike is pretty tasty too. I just have no idea what I'll do with a 48" + musky.
tunrevir
Well, I can say I have eaten one at one point in my life and it wasn't much different then eating pike. I was kind of waiting for someone to chime in and say it tastes like chicken Tunrevir~

bucketmouth64
When I was growing up my brother caught a good size muskie and my dad had it smoked. We had a party and it went over pretty good. I remember eating it because it was the first time I had smoked fish and it was good.

popriveter
I'm usually pretty curious to try every kind of fish I can, however, I can't rationalize keeping a legal-sized muskie when I always catch 2 or 3 eater-sized northerns per muskie. They must taste the same, right? Maybe some day I'll foul hook one bad enough to find out what they taste like.
The_Seasock
According to people I know that eat a lot of them, you can't taste any difference from a big chunk of muskie and a big lobster tail.
mainbutter
I was lucky enough to go to the Muskie's Inc 2009 chapter challunge at Leech Lake with a fishing buddy of mine. We met someone who had caught a musky that never revived, and rather than letting it go to waste ended up smoking it, making a chip dip, and sharing it with the guys at the chapter challunge. He also made a fairly identical dip from smoked wild caught alaskan salmon.Between the two, the smoked musky won hands down, I gave it a AAA+++. It made me think I need to smoke some northern pike, I always pan fry it but now I'm hooked on the idea of trying my hand at smoking.
