Very Cool Sight

Last winter, guy next to us pulls up a hammerhandle. Takes it and starts walking out to the middle of the lake about 200 yards away. When he gets back, he looks at us and says "watch this". About that second, an eagle comes out of the trees and starts circling. Less then 3 minutes later, swoops in and grabs that pike.

One of the coolest things I have seen.

We've had them land about 20 yards away and walk to the shack to steal the perch we flipped out the door. Thought the game warden snuck up on us til we flipped the shack open and saw the eagle standing there with his talons as full as he could get them! I bet he stole 3 of our catch. We started paying closer attention after that. Another landed close, but didn't come to the shack. We threw a small one his way.

Reminds me of the way I "relocate" the suburban rabbits I catch in my live trap.

Take them down to the MS. river by my house, near an Eagles nest.

This time of year, drop the rabbits on the ice... (after rattling the cage a bit) rabbits take off across the ice to get away from me, right into the waiting talons of the eagles.

I swear the eagles know my truck now.

Summertime the same way... only the rabbits go for a swim... then just like a fish.

I lost count... I think its up to 33 rabbits in the last 2 years.
