Greg Clusiau
Heading up to "GNO Country" early this Saturday morning in search of crappies. Will have a report when I get back. Hopefully, I'll get a few more like these.
magnum mike
Let us know how you do. We are going to be 30 miles north of you looking for slabs too!
Greg Clusiau
Will do Mike. We are changing our plans a bit though. First we were going to take snowmobiles but lucas said there was hardly any snow left but a fair amount of water on the lake. Rubber knee-boots for sure! Good luck. magnum mike
I just got the same report this morning. Sleds off the trailer and quads on the trailer. Don't forget the helmets! Tight lines!
Greg Clusiau
Thanks for the reminder on the helmets. Easier to forget when using wheelers for some reason??Have you been to Lucas' lake this winter at all?
Greg Clusiau
It was good! Thanks to Gateway North Outfitters for all they do!
Wanderer
Gateway North, eh?! Nice fish Greg. I would take a day off laker fishing to catch some dandy crappies like those.
NoWiser
Wanderer,The best part about staying with GNO is that after you get your limit of slabs, you can be on awesome trout water in about a 20 minute sled ride.We didn't fish crappies this year, but our last trip up there trouting in February was nothing short of amazing. We got over 100 trout in 3 days with 6 of us. One of those days 4 of us only fished for 1/2 day and spent the rest of the time building a giant igloo. Caught 8 trout and a pike out of it the next day.Looking forward to getting some slabs this spring! We've gotten on them the last 3 or 4. We've started releasing everything over 14", and some days its hard to find any to keep!
magnum mike
You did much better than we did. We thought about swinging in there Friday but kept pressing north. We ended the trip with 5 crappies, 5 walleyes and 11 football perch. As usual "Thing long, think WRONG!" One of these days I will learn to go with my gut.
