What fish to go after in NC??

I'm going to SC next week and will be doing a fishing charter (guide trip) on Wednesday in the Wilmington, NC and Cape Fear River area. The capt says we can go after 1) redfish in the saltwater creeks/rivers or 2) big 5-6 lb LM bass and panfish in nearby lakes. We would keep only a couple fish for eating, thus panfish in the lakes, but the capt said redfish are good eating, too. laugh

I'm a leaning towards the freshwater trip because I don't know if I can get over paying money to go fish for sheephead (redfish = red drum). I can catch sheephead all I want on the St. Croix all summer long. wink

What say you??

Redfish all day every day. It sounds like you have a problem with drum, be they freshwater or saltwater, and yes that sounds like a very bad personal fault on your part that I would fix right away :P

Both redfish and freshwater drum are fantastic eating, better than panfish or walleye for my taste buds, as long as they are 2-5lbs.
