5 inch plotters

Question

Okay, h2oc went kerr-plunk and my right near the half a century old eyes are'nt what they once were so I am thinking of getting a fixed mount 5 inch gps for kicker boat, pontoon and the occasional rental boat. Need internal anntenae and chip compatible unit. This unit will be Red green rigged to jump from boat to boat.

I've had Garmin handhelds of 1 type or another since '93 and like Garmins ease of operation. Leery of Lowrance due to all the internal reciever probs on 520 series.

So I've seen Garmin GPSMap 530's at a realistic price!! 439, and could most likely get Strieffs, my favorite local shop to price match as they've always been good to me as long as they can get one as this model is recently discontinued.

Pros/cons on this Garmin or simular model anyone??

I have the 530s and like it a lot cant think of any cons except $200 for the weather radar antenna. Will say the sharpness of the colors and contrast is awesome and the unit is easy to navigate. Never had a problem with the internal gps antenna always got great reception even fishing on the St.Croix and amongst the cliffs and steep hills. Ive had the unit since 2008 and got it from ProFishingSupply..

Garmin GPS/Map 530 series is a very solid unit.

The Garmin GPS/MAP 536 is one to look at too. If you wish wireless sharing from your hand held Garmin GPS to your marine sonar, take a good look at the 536. Exceptional daylight view ability and screen quality on this series as well.
