Funny , I quit smoking in December last year and it was one of the reasons my better half

let me order my new boat. As said, could save enough to make half a payment a month. Smoked for 35 years and quit cold turkey. Funny how your priorities change when it comes to a new boat.

I look at it as a WIN WIN grin

Way to go, I quit about four years ago in Feburary. My husbands birtday was coming up in Aug. It was his 50th. I wanted to get him something real good. So I bought him a Polaris 500 all deck out in camo with gun case, and I paid it off in three years with my cig. money.(50.00 a week)

It helped me from not starting up because the money I spent on cig. was going to the payment.

Good luck and take it one day at a time.

I quit July 5,1999 and will never smoke again. I know from past experience that I cannot have so much as a cigar/cigarette because the addiction will just start over. When you stop the addiction you have to stay away from any form of nicotine.

Keep up the good work, and yes you deserve better then just a rod and reel wink

Maybe a couple of them along with a new tackle box loaded with a bunch of new goodies.

I agree with that! I stopped smoking a while ago for over a year, and than my neighbor got me into cigars. I would smoke them, rarely inhale. After a while and some beers id steal a cigarette from a friend and have one with my brew. next thing you know I was back at it

My downfall was a Swisher Sweet cigar while ice fishing. I had quit for 2 years so I thought it would be no problem to have just one. Well that one turned into one on Saturday and then one Saturday and Sunday and soon it was two on each day and then it was a pack of Marlboro reds. Took me another 5 years before I would quit again. Lesson learned wink

Great post !!!!

I quit my last cigarette in 2003, and never looked back.

It is hard, very hard, but I tip my hat to all the "quitters" that take it day by day, and have been successful.

You will not believe how good you'll feel. Even socially, you will "smell" right away the guy that still smokes, they can chew anything they want, they still stink.

Congratulations to fatcat45.

Congrats! It's been 6yrs for me. It keeps getting easier, just hang in there. Now the thought of a cig is disgusting. Not only will you save your health and money, but you will also come to realize just how much time you wasted having those cigs.

I am so ready to quit chewing. I am also sick and tired of making excuses. As of now, I am done. I just told my wife the same thing, but im sure she does not believe me. Anyways, I mean it this time, and I would appreciate it if you guys help hold me to it. I am going to try my best and need your support to finally quit. I will post updates over the next couple of days. Thanks again for the inspiration and motivation to quit. We are expecting our first baby in a couple of months and my goal has been to quit before the baby is born. However, I keep putting it off. The time is now. I need to stop and I need to quit making excuses. Thanks again for your support.

That is so true about cigars getting you right back in it. I quit for 3 years and started back up last spring after having some cigars. I'm now just over a month smoke free and feel great about it. No giving into cigars now!

Great job everyone that has quit this habit, not easy!

Tom Its great to hear that you are that you are going to quit. Make sure to get some type of aid (Nicorette gum, Chantrix, etc )because chew is a tough one to quit. My dad always said that the only way he could give up chew was to start smoking but that is not the greatest idea. Get some Nic. gum and wean yourself away after a month or two.

Good Luck and keep us updated!

Congrats to all that have quit! I want to quit, maybe adding some incentive (new rod/reel, new boat, etc.) will make it easier.

I find it tough doing things that I associate with smoking, fishing being one of them. Boat in, start motor, smoke, idle out, smoke, get to fishing hole, smoke (sometimes before dropping a line in.) Read forums on HSO (new habit,) smoke. smile

I'd be all for quitting, it's the routine that scares me...

Best of luck if you decide to quit. All the things you brought up stiil catch me know and then. Still find my self reaching for the shirt pocket on a day to day basis. I stay focused on the reward. I will say it is tuff as help some days. Every day I tell my self stay focused.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
