GlassEyeangler
i have not opened the link you posted, but i'm convinced the DNR moves these dates around just to enforce more which equates to more $$$.i live in the south metro, and last year the walleye/pike season closed a few days before the perm houses had to be off the lake. hmm, i also noticed conservation officers all over the place during that time as well. i'm positive some anglers were fined for fishing 'eyes and northerns over the two days prior to the deadline of having perm houses removed.i cannot speak to this year, as i've been working an average of 65.0 hours per week, and have only been out a handful of times.i'm glad to see someone posted this info because, the last thing anyone needs is a fine! timjones
It used to be that the houses had to be off the last day of February. About 2 or 3 years ago they changed the State Statute to say they had to be off the end of the first Monday in March. This year the first Monday happens to be the 7th, which is as late as it can get. That's for the southern half of the state anyway.
gonehunting
More money for the DNR? I'm sure they have nothing better to do. I'm guessing that the reason you seen more officers out is because they are out GPSing houses that have a potential for not being removed by the deadline, gathering evidence of litter, looking for houses with frozen floors which might be left behind etc. Also if you are an avid angler you would have realized the walleye/northern season has closed a week or more every year before the deadline for removal.
