Haven't actually started booking yet, but hopefully a few to the Jackson/Clarke area in Wisconsin, we wanna head up to the Iron River area once, been trying to get to the Gilbert area.

The guys have been talking about a Dead horse run weekend, but noone is sure about the trail system.

Last year I worked alot and had few oppurtunities to go wheeling.

Hopefully we stay busy at work, but I can away more this year.

Hate to have these darn gas prices dictate how vacationing goes, but that may play a part also.

We did the Dead Horse run last summer and had a good time. Went in at camp Loretta trail head on the south side. The first few miles were kind of rough and bumpy then it got really nice. If you go in on the north side its much smoother. Very pretty ride. Some limited camping at the trail head. Worth checking out.

We're headed to Mena Arkansas the first week of April for 6 days. Should be in the mid 70 down there. I can't wait to leave! We are also headed up to Akley for some state forest ridind in June. Then we have all of our pulls starting in July & August.

4wheelmama. Tell your hubby he is lucky to have someone that wants to run all over the place wheeling! I may have married the wrong one! smile No, my wife did pretty good at riding when the kids were younger but she's kind of given up getting wet, cold & muddy if she doesn't have to! smirk Akeley's a good ride. wink Have fun!

If you can afford it with the price of gas, plan a trip to hatfield/mccoy trails in west virginia i guarantee you will want to go back, the trail system is absolutely awesome. our riding group used to have a pulling sled that funded all of our trips every year, we sold it 4 years ago and haven't been on a trip since with fuel prices and the economy going in the tank, i feel fortunate to be able to take those trips. I'll rank the places we went.

1. hatfield/mccoy trails, west virginia called "trails heaven" for a reason. exactly like the old t.v show hee haw down there, a different world.

2. butte montana...close #1

3. big horn mountains, sheridan wyo...rugged trails the women may not like it, but if you like the old west alot of good history in the area.

4. bozeman/gallatin montana (2 years in a row))... we were riding along and here comes this helicopter and it lands up ahead of us and the guy gets out to make sure we were closing gates, and it's ted turner, yep the ted turner who owns CNN and millions of acres we were riding through south of bozeman.

5. DuBois wyoming lava mountain area. took a couple days to figure out the trails but hard to beat the grand tetons for scenery.

6. Black Hills S.D not quite the mountains but a good trail system.

Using the money we made with the pulling sled and 12-15 people on each trip, the most expensive trip was to west virginia for 10 days costing $360 each.

We want to make it out to the hattfield/mccoy trails. We have little kids right now, but maybe when they are old enough to all go with we will venture out that way. We've done some riding in MT and we are thinking next year wyoming.

I would also recommend a trip to Hatfield McCoy. I went a year ago in 09 for a week and it was a blast. Plenty of trails and last year I believe they connected the existing trails to even more trailheads to add several more miles.

I am trying to get another trip out to ST Anthony, Idaho to do some dune riding but cant get my usual crew to commit this year.

ATV Hugger,

Can you make it a one day trip, from North to South and back again?

Was it pretty dry when you went?

Has anybody here tried it in early spring when the trails open up?

Is it suspect to alot of flooding? Looks like alot of water(creeks) in the trail area.

Dozer,

Looks like a HSO challenge...

I like it! As far as I know it is a full days ride to make it one way in the spring.

Rippin, If your talking about the dead horse Its about 50 miles round trip. We did it in a day easy. It had rained a lot before we went so there was some water and no trail dust. Only saw two or three other wheelers.

Looks like we are going for a mid May to Early June target date now.

Anyone interested?

Looked at the Wisconsin map last night and there looks to be alot of "other ATV trails" indicated on the map.....

Wonder if they are the "more difficult" trails listed on the map?

Says if riding this trail, to bring tools, ropes, gas, water and food.

It doesn't state that on many of the other trails, kinda makes a person wonder why? I understand the gas part....but the rest??

Doing Spider Lake trails in Wisconsin in a

couple weeks and then again end of May.

"Tools/Rope/Gas" means there is mud and lots

of it. Unlike Minnesota who shuts down trails at

the sign of puddling water and muddy conditions,

Wisconsin has the trails like we like them.

It's an ATV man. Wear your mud proudly!!!!!!

Even the local bars have wash off areas with boot

cleaners, hoses etc. Since we started riding in

cheeseland, there isn't any comparison.

You do need to get the trail pass though. Worth every

penny.

We have been riding over there for a couple of years and the trails are great!.

We do not buy trail passes anymore, we just register them over there, its a better deal.

    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
