Pandora Radio users...

It was my understaning that when a station is created for an artist, that the station would only play songs from that artist. Well unfortuanately this has not been the case with most of my stations. I have a station called "Pink" and it will play songs from Avril Lavigne to kelly clarkson to some hip hop with a weighted average leaning to Pink songs.

Some artist dont even get the weighted average, they are spotted here or there thru the play lists. I have another station called Neil diamond and it used to play his music pretty heavy, but now it is dilluted out by junk.

Today I clicked on the Johnny Cash station and it has played 12 straight songs of his and rolling. This is what I signed up for...how do i get this on the rest of my stations?

I paid for the premium service because I listed to it on my PC at work everyday in our office.

For me it has always played a mix of artists that are in the same genre of the artist I picked for that station. I don't have the premium service though.

I wonder if the more you choose "like" it dillutes the song pool for that station based on adding more songs or artists as possibilities?

The two previous artists (stations) I mentioned have quite a buildup of "likes" and "dislikes" where as JCash is a clean station with no favs. If thats the case, it kinda defeats the purpose of "liking" a song.

It will never play only one artist, even if you like that artist and dislike every other artists song. It will continue to find other music, I've tried. And actually it was my experience that if you do that it will start changing the genre of music(ie you make an Pink station, it will eventually turn into an Pink/country station, then an Pink/rock station, etc.)

The radio station making is to make a station that plays songs by that artist and similar artists. I'm sure there is some contract that prevents these stations from playing only one artist.

Slacker Radio has many channels that play just that artist. It is the only music app I use to blare out tunes

I think that was the point of Pandora. They have an algorithm that analyzes the music you like and selects similar songs you might like.

I assume also it depends on the artist, I don't think Pink has enough songs to sustain a full 24hr broadcast, while Johnny Cash does. The program will insert similar type music to fill the schedule
