jsnides
i was fishing w my dad the other weekend on an area lake that we love to fish for walleyes and pike. We were setup for the night bite and having a good time catchin a few small walleyes. My dad had mentioned he was having troubles getting his lure to show up on his vexilar. I mentioned to him to turn his gain up and then jig the rod to find where his lure was in the water column he turned the gain up and went to jig his rod and to his delight there was a tremendious weight on the end of his line. he set the hook and the battle ensued. after much clearing in the house i was prepping an area in the house to land a monster fish. line wwas peeling out and he wasnt gaingin much ground on this haug. I kept coaching him to keep tight and to play the fish out until he was ready to come off the bottom. he played the fish for about 15 min and tightened his drag a number of times. we just had to atleast see this monster. As the fish got closer to the bottom of the ice bubbles started purging up the hole like a scuba diver was beneath the hole. as i peered down the hole i saw it comeing rolling up the hole it was a huge sturgeon. 38 " length 15" girth approx 20 pound lake sturgeon. we knoew lake sturgeon were in the watershed but had never landed one before. just had to share was a fish of a lifetime and one we wont ever forget. Bigtom
I am guessing a 15" girth you couldn't get it threw the hole. Good story it got me exited.
TravP
I am guessing a 15" girth you couldn't get it threw the hole. Good story it got me exited. A 15" girth will fit through a 6" hole pretty easily.

laughterin
Isnt a 15" circumference/girth around a 5" diameter? Just wondering. If so that fish would come out just fine.

mww24
15 inch girth would be just under a 5 inch diamater perfect circle. Wouldn't be a problem getting it out of a hole.

My_Key
Nice fish. The photo actually appears as if there was condensation on the lens. I've fought that a few times when ill prepared for a photo op this winter. Of course, thats when they present themselves.
