Eelpout08
Has anyone had their transducer damaged by not using the supplied cable and float? from what i hear i am not the only one that hates having half the hole clogged up with all the extra [PoorWordUsage]. just like to know how long everyone has been running without and if there have been any problems oops, sorry to all the sensitive ears! i used the "c" word
Esox_Magnum
The support cord is supposed to be a get around of Vex's float system, IMO the float on any brand is a pain and never used one and still dont no matter the brand I'm using. mole
I have never used the float or support and have no trouble. I drill a hole for the cable and trans. so I dont tangle when I catch one of the few fish I catch.
Surface Tension
I don't use the support.Keep the cable wrapped around and clipped to it holder so your not putting stress on the plug. The static weight of the ducer isn't going to hurt it by hanging without the support cable. If you put dynamic weight to the ducer by dropping it then you could sever wires inside the cord. Shack
Amazingly the support cable for me has been useful. I am not using it with an ice unit but for a base flasher with extreme hole hoping on my snowmobile. I use my summer SI unit as a GPS mapper while ice fishing fishing and bought the ice ducer to use the flasher mode for finding active fish (very accurate in detail I might add). After drilling a series of holes and with the way my cord runs out to the ducer from my sled, the float support cord and float acts as a good point to toss in the hole as I drive up to it. I pull up via the cord but handle mostly by the float. If the float was on the main ducer cord it would almost make it a hassle and possibly enough I would not use it. Korynta
Only problem i had was the next morning after falling asleep with it in the hole. I had to chip around the cable because ice had swallowed it. Dont fall fall asleep with it in the hole and u shouldnt have any issues.
