cjac
Hi all, I now have the newer body style Chev full size SUV with the hitch coming out of the bumper compared to my '04 Tahoe that was mounted under the bumper. With the '04 I ran a 2" drop hitch to balance out my boat, which is on 16" wheels. What drop hitch are most using on the newer Chev trucks? Thanks, Chris
Macgyver55
All that really matters is that the ball end up at the height that you want/need your trailer to be. Not all trailer tongues are the same height, so the easiest way, is to measure your trailer tongue height (at the level you want it to be) then measure your receiver height and buy the proper ball mount to end up at that position. Eric Wettschreck
Yup, that's what I do. I have a few different trailers I tow and have different drop size slide ins for the trailers.I'm thinking the average ball height, from the ground, is right around 15-18 inches. cjac
Thanks guys, my boat is in storage so I'll just need to measure up a comparable boat on a trailer at the Sports Show and buy based on that. I'm guessing that 16 inch range sounds about right....

Finns
I've noticed that mine have been just below the knee cap! OUCH!
Bigtom
I've noticed that mine have been just below the knee cap! OUCH! x2 I would say a 3"0r 3.5" drop would be fine for a 1500. If it's a 2500 maybe a 4" drop.
