Deitz Dittrich
a lot depends on the size lure you throw. For the most part a 6" or 9" will be plenty.
mainbutter
I like to tie directly to lures rather than use snaps, and I run 25lb fluorocarbon for bite protection (hasn't failed me once in two seasons since I started).. so as I clip/retie on lures my leader changes size until I replace it.I generally start out with an 18'' length and don't replace it until I've retied enough to cut it down to 6'', simply so I don't have to retie on a new length of leader as often if I'm regularly changing leaders. tunrevir
What type of technique are you using? If I was still fishing with a float then I'd go with flouro, when trolling or running cranks I tend to tie direct and use 30# powerpro. Doesn't seem to affect how the fish react to my cranks when casting or trolling in this manner. Tunrevir~
