sweatervest76
Hey everyone,I will be picking up a StrikeMaster Strike-Lite II 8" auger within the next few days. Is this a good machine? Any pro's and con's to this auger and tips are greatly appreciated!
icekid10
I havn't herd any problems with them. They are great that you don't need to mix oil. This auger also doesn't have very much smoke! Very light which is great. I think you will love that auger!

IcerRon2010
4 stroke power. Love the torque, runs quite, smooth powerband. A joy to operate
FrontenacPike
I own a lite 1, and one thing that I learned is feather the throttle when starting. My first few trips out in sub temps I got really frustrated with it cause it took way too many pulls. I ended up calling SM and they told me about feathering the throttle with choke and have started 2nd pull since. BTW you will love it!!! BartmanMN
Absolutely love mine. I have Strike Lite 1, but with the new metal bit, so essentially a Strike Lite II. It is great.
Mid-Lake Rock
I have the first generation. I love the powerhead and one thing that has not been mentioned is that it uses very little fuel. Great for long trips on big bodies of water when you don't want to haul gas or go into shore. This year, I purchased a 10" chipper drill for the wheel house. No smoke or smell in the house after drilling eight holes. I use non-oxy in every tank with a little Seafoam. At the end of ice season I change the oil, then start it on the first of every month during the summer so my auger is ready to go at first ice without problems. slipperybob
If you store the motor on the wrong side down, there's maybe a potential for crank oil leaking.
jnwb
Love mine, just got it at the start of the season. Best purchase I have made in years! Light, no smoke, no smell, easy to start, quite, uses very little fuel. May not be as fast as some of the others but not far behind.
