What a Great Weekend!!

Had the opportunity to head up to Aitken County this weekend with my Best Friend Boone. We left the cities around 4am Saturday morning and it wasn't long before we were on a small lake catching nice bluegills. It was a tough bite but we were able to coax some nice fish into biting. It was a overcast day but fairly warm and we drilled alot of holes and hopped around. It seemed like the school of bigger 'gills would move around, and only stayed in one area for a short time. We would catch a couple at a time and then they were gone from our flashers. Our Marcums did the trick tracking those fish down. It was great to be outside catching these beautiful fish. We caught some really nice fish and decided to let the biggest gills go and grow, and only harvested 12 of the 20 plus fish we caught. On Sunday morning we headed over to Big Sandy to see if we could find some Crappies We had heard that the bite has been tough lately and decided to fish some different areas. Boone has been working with some new software called Contour Elite . This software allows you to put in previous waypoints and will find locations that closely resemble those areas (same depths, structure, bottom composition). We ended up on the north end of Big Sandy fishing in 27 fow not far from a point that had shallow water close. The fish were stacked up and stayed in this area all day . It wasn't long before we had our limit and decided to call it a day. We caught our fish on all sorts of artificials and live bait. Small crappie minnows on a Glow Demon took most of Boones crappie, and I caught quite a few on the small Diamond Jig tipped with euro larve. A few of the 'gills were caught on T.H.E. Jig (pink & white 100oz) while others fell for small fiska's tipped with euro's. It was a great weekend filled with lot's of laughter, good company, and quality fish being caught. Thanks Boone!!
