rainylakefisher
What type of battery life is typical for an Ice55? My buddy bought a barely used Ice55, with the orginal battery, and we went to Mille Lacs on Saturday. He assures me the battery was fully charged when we left, but his battery didn't make it through the whole day. I get at least 1.5 days on each battery with my FL8. He did use the backlight on the middle display most of the day, but not sure how much that would affect it.Since it was used, we don't know how well the original owner took care of the battery. The unit itself is near perfect and ran fine. I really liked the adjustable zoom feature and might consider an upgrade. BUT, I do a lot of multi-day trips without access to battery charging so I need to know I won't need to bring three batteries all the time to get through the weekend. Jason_Halfen
I just finished a weekend where I ran my ICE 55 for 1.5 days straight and my battery meter is at 40%. A full weekend should be a piece of cake!
Crappyfisherman
That is the biggest problem with the birds, run time. They seem to use a lot of juice.I have a 55 and really like it other than the battery drain. When I go to LOW for 2 or three days I bring my VEX.I use the 55 mostly for run and gun local lakes. I like the digital readout. Too many toys.It comes with a 9 amp. battery, check to make sure someone didn't switch to a 7 amp. I got a 10 amp.(same foot print but an inch taller) at Batteries Plus. $48.00 is kind of high price
DTro
I fished a full 12 hours on Sat and at the end of the day it was fluctuating between 80 and 85%.VERY impressed!
luckydog25
I get 2 solid days (10-12hrs per day) out of my bird. I always take 2 batteries on longer trips, it takes very little time to switch out the battery and the 2nd one doesn't take up any space. I owned a vexilar before I got my 55, it was about the same amount of run time.
MN BassFisher
Yeah I usually fish three trips and then charge it. But it usually is around 25%, i fished a full 12 hours Saturday and a few more on Sunday and the it still said I had 75% battery life. The battery life on these things is great! Seems like my buddies are always switching batteries when were out, granted that their units are a few years older.
bk_MN_iceman
I fished 2 full days without a charge. I do not use the backlit screen in most cases as that will suck the juice faster.
harvey lee
Never any issues with battery life. I thought the unit did just fine all the times I have used it in 2 years.
jwmiller33
i rarely have to charge my bird on weekend trips, and on these trips i am fishing at least 10 hrs of fishing, usually more like 12-14 hrs and i always have at least 50% battery life remaining, usually more around 75%. i have a ice 35 though, not a 55. rooz
maybe you were marking so many fish that the marks sucked up all you're juice! i too would say mine runs for around 14 hours on a single charge, give or take an hour with the backlite on.
