Tis the Season to Start Stocking up!

Recommended Posts

Well; many of us that are counting the days to open water fishing probably started restocking our tackle.( this is a all winter long thing for me! grin, but in moderation)

So far this year i've gotten a new muskie reel( a Christmas gift from my kids) to which i paired it up with a new T.I. 9' XH rod, plus some dawg style lures. New line, ( of course!) and with the help of my wife a new Humm. locator with side imaging, Yesturday i ordered five new ugly stick casting rods. These are replacements for some of the rods at the trailer.( my wife has a trailer at the Miss. Many of the FAMILY fishing rods are cracked/tips held on with duct tape, and just broke!! :D) Still want to get some new plastics, but mainly trying to save some money for the muskie expo in April. grin

For some reason, open water seems to be much less gear intensive for me than ice fishing, even though I do about an equal amount of each in a year. For open water, I don't have much more than rods and some tackle, and I never feel like I could use much more. It seems like I have ice fishing junk all over the place now.

confused

Glad to see another fan of the Ugly Stick. I have a couple. One of them comes apart in 4 pieces and fits in a backpack--that's the one I take to the BWCA 'cause I know I'll never break it, so I won't stranded without a rod.
