PurpleCatMan
I just bought a rod case that has a hard tube for the tips and a soft pocket for the reels. I was told I could safely keep to rods in there.I am wondering if anyone has any tricks for storing rods in a case like this? I have a couple of noodle type rods with very soft tips and I am nervous about keeping my jig on the hook keeper because it bends the rod so much. I really don't want to have to re-tie everytime.... ideas?
slipperybob
It's best to tie a fresh jig with those noodle type rods or those soft flexible tips like the JM meatstick if you don't want to break them. Otherwise you'll want a case type rod storage so you can make sure the rod tips don't cross each other or the reel handles don't get turned. Northlander
I have had good luck putting my meatsticks in rod sleeves and then putting into the cases. Seems to protect them fragile tips better and stop the rods from tangling.
JPowell
X2 on the rod sleeves. Protects the tip and less tangling up.JP
Gus
X3 for rod sleeves. I put my reel in backspin mode so it doesn't keep tightening the line with every wiggle. I also cinch down the elastic on the rod sleeve so it will not let the reel turn much. And I always peel a little extra line out just in case the reel does turn, it won't pull on the tip. Knock on wood, no broken tips yet.
fishwater
I always take off the jig and reel the line back onto the spool all the way.
