2002 Buick Lesabre 'Service Stability System'

Recommended Posts

My Buick starts out fine and after a few yards or sometimes a few miles, occationaly 30 to 40 miles, the service stability system message comes on also with the ABS light and traction off indicator, all at same time.A couple of times it has also come on after starting the car and sitting idle for 5 minutes or so. Before this happens I've checked the ABS and traction control on slippery surface and they work fine until the malfuntion lights come on.

I was told to chck the ABS wiring harness to front, and also the load leveling sensors on each wheel.

Any other ideas that might help.

Thanks.

Your best bet is to scan it for codes.

Other than that visually checking the harnesses to both front speed sensors is not a bad idea. Peal back the plastic loom and look for green corrosion. If you find it you can try repairing the wire or the harnesses are readily available in the aftermarket or from your local GM dealer.

Also look at the connector carefully. It is not uncommon for the wires to corrode/crack/brake in those areas.

The stability control and traction control use the ABS system so it is likely that there is a fault in the ABS system and it is causing the other systems to shut down.

Probably the case here too.... I just did one of these last month, found a broken wire to the right front wheel speed sensor.
