LX-5 issue

I hit the ice for the first time this season today. The outing was a good one except for one issue. I turned my LX-5 on and had problems reading the bottom right away. After some fiddling with the gain, I was able to pick up the bottom and my jig, but barely. The only signal I could get was a yellow bottom/jig. I had a spare battery along (brand new) and that did not solve the problem. Both batteries work fine with my backup unit (vx-1).

Has anyone had/heard of this issue? I'm thinking it may be a bad transducer. Any other ideas I should be on the look-out for?

Bad transducer or bad battery would be my first two guesses. Sounds like you've ruled out a bad battery.

Bad ducer. I had the same problem last year. New ducer fixed everything

Well, swapped out transducers and that didn't fix the problem. Looks like I'll be sending it in. Must be a problem with the head unit.

The problem is with the assembly of the range knob. It has some spring metal contact points that needs a little fine tuning. I fiddle with my knob to get my unit working.
