True - it's hard to get stuck on the lake when you're stranded on the side of the road still because your fuel pump went out............ again. Priceless. And I own a Chevy. Speaking of fuel pumps - mine makes a horrible whining noise.
rickl1968
I dropped the front end of my truck in the lake 11 years ago and we used two birch logs in the ice on a angle. we then comealonged the two together about 20 feet apart in a line behind the truck. Then we used a portable electric winch from the first log to the truck. It worked good until a big chunck of ice broke off under the truck and the whole truck went down. We cut the cable and went home. Called the insurance the next day WHOOO HOO it was covered. They took care of the extraction and I had a rental vehicle and a check within 3 days. jBohmer
I pray to the good lord every year hoping I do not have to call the insurance company about pulling my truck out of the water. That is a call my agent said he is waiting for from me. I guess he does not have that much confidence in me or just knows my luck.

I went out at night looking for my buds, that didn't show up, there trucks all went through too. As I was walking across the lake to where I seen a fire on the north shore I seen a flicker of light only to find the taillights of a truck sticking through the ice. Everyone made it out alright, a couple a little cold though. 24" of ice melted to 8" of pencil ice in a day and a half.

rickl1968
Yep, I learned a good lesson that day. Keep your truck fully insured when you bring it out on the ice. and if you need a good ice anchor a couple of logs drilled into the ice on an angle works!
