I know there is no ice in Costa Rica (Tamarindo Beach) but I will be there next week.
Any of you guys ever fished there? I will be there for quite a few days and am planning to fish at least one day. Can any one recomend some launches or guides? Any advice will be appreciated!
Mike

I honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta in May, from my experience I suggest you take a cab(hold on baby!!!)to the bigger marina in the area and spend a little time going into the shops and look at their photo albums and see what they have been catching lately and what their boats are like and if you even like the guys. I fished with a guide on a small boat and was dissapointed, didn't have radio or sonar but caught a few bonito,$150 usd. The next day we went 20 or so miles to the marina, talked to some serious anglers at their store, went out for the full day trip, they supplied lunch and all beverages, had top of the line gear, 25'+ boat everyone caught fish (marlin) and was happy. They would even refund half your fee if you didn't hook into anything $200 usd. Well worth it to spend the little extra to show your buddies back home what a 100# sailfish looks like.

When I was in Puarto Vallarta there was a bunch of cold water in the area and even the locals said the fishing was horible. I would have liked to go though.

WP do a search on these folks. These are the guys that I have seen Sharra, Winkleman and I think the Capras fishing with. There is a link for them on lots of Sportfishing pages.

All I can say is I wish I were going along. Make sure you eat lots of the local seafood dishes, (Huacinango Veracruzana - Camaranones Diablo - banana leaf tamales )

Another good Language tip - "Otras cervezas, por favor" ... (another round of Beer please)

Buenas Suerte !!!

You should charter a boat and go out! I was in Mazatlan over Thanksgiving, and caught an 8 foot sailfish and a 40# mahi mahi. I could have fished longer if two of the kids hadn't gotten seasick frown.gif . You're going to be in one of the best places in the world for marlin fishing! You HAVE to look into it and GO!
Good Luck!
(Take dramamine or bonine if it's even a little rough though wink.gif )

Not the same country...get an Atlas.

When did I indicate that it was the same country? Costa Rica has some great fishing.
At one time, the waters off of Costa Rica held the world record for Blue Marlin.
Sheesh.

    • ......The 6 packages from the first round are long-gone, so I am brining up another batch. Ended up buying an entire case of butts (@ $1.18 per #) from Sams. I am going to do 3 butts - one with High Mtn buckboard seasoning and two with another dry brine consisting of Tenderquick, brown sugar, garlic salt, and black pepper. I always like getting to the raw ingredients of spices versus relying on someones "magic rub". If it goes badly I will revert back to the HM cure. As an added note, I also picked up a $20 loin that I put HM cure on to experiment with some Canadian bacon.... Will check back in 10 days or so!
    • if thats the case i hope there printing water proof versions!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant keep mine nice and tidy in the cab of my truck!!!!!!!
    • Have not heard this. Why just a boat? It needs to be in some peoples buckets to so when their 500 fish over their limit they can't say I no know, I no know? 🤷‍♂️
    • Got mine yesterday during the snow.  I was informed that there is a new rule requiring the MN Fishing Regulations be carried on your boat and that this new rule is not documented in the Regs.  Anyone know if this is fact or just a kindly recommendation?
    • Mike is as good as it gets, especially if you're talking archery.

    • Coyle for Donato and a 5th, not as bad as nino for rask because at least donato has some potential to be a better goal scorer but overall yikes, not thrilled with Fentons bigger trades so far, the smaller ones have been good but that is the problem. Either way all signs point toward a rebuild of some kind.
    • It's a prairie zone.  We're right on the northern edge of the hills, Just north of I90 near Sturgis.
    • Wow, Bobber! You resurrected an oldie from the good old days, here!    I STILL haven't tried this yet - although I have bought a LOT of Prague Powder between then and now.😁   I think any roast wold work but you might get a pretty fatty result with chuck.  If you're looking to make corned beef & cabbage for St.Patty's Day and eat it more like a pot roast - a little extra fat might not be bad. But if you're looking to make your own lunch meat or eat it cold, I think chuck would get a little greasy in your mouth.  Corned beef is traditionally made with brisket.   Maybe I'll give this a go - it's almost that magical time of the year - that sweet spot between youth hockey season and youth baseball season when I get to do what I want... sometimes.
    • Heres a pic of those relays. People out riding the trail out here and my sled is in the shop.
