My guess is about 7 hours. I live outside Grand Forks, ND. It's about a 5 - 6 hour trip from here to the Twin Cities. I have 4 kids so the time varies greatly depending on their mood. Devils Lake is another 90 miles west of Grand Forks on HWY 2 (Speed Limit 70 MPH). Looks like 94 to Jamestown and up 281 might be another option. As far as a place to stay - being so close - I have never stayed the night in the winter. Check out the Devils Lake Chamber HSOforum. They have a list of local hotels and resorts. You should be able to find something there.

Good Luck

7-7.5 hours depending on how many gas/pit stops. I drive it many time a year from the Mpls area. If you are staying on the East side of the lake go though Fargo and Grand Forks. If heading to the West side go to Jamestown and head north on 281 from there. It takes you straight into Minnewaukan. Going fishing? Good luck.
