Yes. My dad has the vpg and I sent it in last year for a free upgrade. I know they may charge for it now but with the newest software its definitly worth it.

Its nice that you can get it flashed with new software and it works better. Cant do that with a regular flasher.

I usually tuck the front velcro cover through the handle on top that way it stays out of the way when I move from hole to hole.

I agree that the transducer bracket is rather snug since I did happen to break it and now am using it with out until I break down and replace it.

I also tuck the cover back through the handle, this seems to be the best solution to keeping th cover out of the way.

In regards to the bracket:

When I pulled the Showdown out of its case, I found that due to lack of clearance, the bracket was catching on the battery strap each time I would try to push the bracket back into the stored position. Solution: tape the battery strap down snug to the battery allowing clearance for the bracket to be stored. Make sure to attach the tape lengthwise the same direction that the bracket moves (parallel to the bracket movement). The clearance is pretty snug here, and if you attach the tape perpendicular to the bracket, the bracket back is more likely to catch on the tape edges. Because it is thin, and the bracket slides well on it, electrical tape worked well in this application.

Thanks for the comments. I am planning on sending my VPG in for the upgrade. I cant wait to use it again. Love the unit.
