Private Boat Sale - Sales Tax

Trailer only. I went to the St. Louis County office in the Miller Hill Mall and it was quick and painless. Went in thinking $800.00 for taxes, left with $705.00 still in the pocket ($84.00 for taxes and $11.00 for lunch at 5 Guys afterwards). They didn't even ask the value of the boat and motor. They even SAID they don't tax the boat/motor, only the trailer. I'm thinking they know the sales tax thing pretty well. I tried paying taxes on the boat/motor but was DENIED by the government. Rare day that "The Man" WON'T take your money when offered. It's your call, but I will NEVER buy a brand new boat. You can find dozens of 1-3 year old boats out there. Chances are one will be your brand, outfitted as you would want. Save the hundreds/thousands of dollars for something that won't be urinated away in St. Paul. Boat's insured for full amount and the bank has a lien on it. I'm guessing I'm legal.
