Congratulations to the Balsam Lake Bandits for top honors at Pool 4 and Big Fish! Also to Team Jighead and Crystal Connection for a very close 2nd and 3rd. Thanks to everyone for making it a great event. Fishing was tough with the post storm conditions, but some nice fish came in. The HSOforum will be updated this week, here are the results and photo's.

Payout - (1st - 3rd + Big Fish)
4th - T.J.'s Tackle Pack

Balsam Lake Bandits received a nice Ring'N grub tackle kit and jig heads from Catch'N Tackle for their 1st place finish (along with a nice payout).

4th place Walleye Wackers received tackle kits from T.J.'s Tackle. These kits include the Case plastics Magic Stik baits, mad toms, king grubs, sinkin salty minnow, and the hot new weightless bait "Jack's worm".

Here are a few photo's that I had. Anyone else that has photo's, feel free to post or send them to me (I'd like to get some of those for the HSOforum as well). Looking forward to Rush Lake on June 13th, see ya all then!

Balsam Lake Bandits (Andrew and Larkin) with their 6.0 lb. Pike (Big Fish for the event)

Wastewater John having a smoke after a nice pair of smallies for team "Bald and the Beautiful"

Here is Terry from team Rob/Terry with a nice 4.0 lb. saugeye that almost held up for big fish

Team Crystal Connection with 2 nice looking smallies

Here is one of the few good bites of the day for us - 4 lb. smallie.

Thanks everyone for a great time. Only problem I have is that now we have to wait a month for the next event.

See you all in June.

Yea, the event was lots of fun. The morning was a bit chilly but the weather looked up for the afternoon. That 4lb smallie was quite a beast, only one like it for the day too, good job W Wackers! We fished some backwaters and rip rap in the morning with little success besides one lost fish. Ended up catching all of our fish from the four wingdams just upstream of the marina we launched at. Caught 2 smallies and a sheepie in the am, about 6 smallies, that pike and a buffalo in the afternoon. Pike came on a frenzy crank, all the bass came with jig/minnow jig/leech combo and one on a a senko. Can't wait until the next one, new lake for us, and we'll have a new boat too. See ya'll later.

Which Rush Lake are we talking about for the second outing. Trying to get details and can't find the one that we seem to be looking for. Location (city / county), best directions from cities.

Thanks and see you there

That's Rush in Chisago cnty if you're looking on lakefinder. It's east and west rush, basically two different lakes if I'm thinking of the right ones right? Which do we launch onto?

I sent out an email to everyone with the info. I had one email returned that I think must have been yours 74 instead of 79. I re-sent the email to you.

You can launch at either West or East Rush. The tournament headquarters will be on West Rush. There will be FM banners up Saturday a.m. There are 4 teams as of now that are planning to camp out Saturday night - I think most planning on fishing Saturday. I have you and your brother as a maybe.

  • Your Responses - Share & Have Fun :)

    • Used the impulse mayflys today, the fish were not biting well. I ended up catching a few nice gills on the mayflys but more fish with  the demon/ waxie combo. I want to try some lighter line with the horizontal jig /impulse mayfly and see what happens. Maybe 5 years ago I moved away from winter panfish fishing. I am so glad I am back catching panfish, a very enjoyable way to pass a winter morning!
    • 13 years ago I had my heart set on a Lund, I went with an Alumacraft because I could rig it out nicer with the money I was allotted by my better half at the time..........no regrets.
    • Ive owned 7 Lunds and don't see another one in the future.  Also been looking at the A-crafts.  The 205 trophy.  Have a 13' Lund Tyee 1800 now.  Good boat but its too light for big water.  Really like the fit and finish of the Aluma's.  The black windshield trim is sharp and the carpet on the top of the gunwale is also nice.  Really impressed.  Not gonna take out a mortgage to buy a glass boat either.
    • I’ve never done anything with mine. I store it standing up and in the fall change the oil if I remember. Haven’t had any issues yet.
    • I had problems with my 02. I found that the plug on the truck side going to the plug at the bumper was corroded. I hope that made sense I cleaned it up and put dielectric grease on it.
    • I would put some Seafoam in the ga.........................  oh never mind. 😁
    • I rode the trails around big lake today, mostly to get used to the new trails. trails were awesome, they must have groomed last night, rode to becker and back and some other playing around. all in all I put on 42 miles today. I will ride into the orrock area tomorrow. don't ride that much around here anymore, mostly aitkin co. now. looks like the trails around the sand dunes look good, I will give it a shot tomorrow.
    • I'm guessing not much. I know the one pounders threads can start to rust in a humid environment, but am not sure if that would be an issue if still attached? I know nothing about propane augers,  is there an oil tank to keep the engine lubed? And if so, does it need to be refreshed or drained every once in a while? It's not like you need to worry about bad gas gumming up the system.   Mostly,  I'm just replying to give you something to read TJ. Hopefully somebody else will chime in with more knowledge.
    • Possibility of moisture getting into them after washing the stove top and around the burners? My wife is good at that.
    • I get it, like the woman in the commercial. You are clever.
