I normally look to fish LOW around the end of Dec. the ice is thick enough to drive a truck on. Earlier then that I worry about Ice pushing and not getting off the lake. 3 years ago we went out, only to have the ice push, it took the resorts 5hrs to cut through the ice wall that was 7ft tall.

Well nov has come and gone as well pretty much dec. Are deer trip to upper north east missouri on the iowa border was pretty good. I saw 8 deer but not 1 ever gave me a good broad side shot so I got skunked for deer season. My buddy got a nice 9pointer hunting over the river bottoms in the stand I wanted to hunt from.

And then there was ICE the ice gods smiled upon us and we where some of the 1st guys out on several local lake's in upper mn the ladies let us out of the house from 9dec-16dec We fished blackduck 6" ice, uppper red 8" ice, and lake of the woods 12" ice. We landed a couple big pike 4 jumbo perch and nice limits of walleye and sauger on almost every day. To many fish frys to count! You have to love early ice they say its some of the best ice fishing for a reason. Im headed back up to Illinois to go ice fishing almost every other weekend they have close to 4" of ice on almost all of the northern il and southern wi lakes. If anyone from missouri wants some tips on where to go ice fishing in IL send me a msg your only 3-4hours away from some fun on the ice there is nothing like walking on water. good luck to all.

Where do you stay when you go to LOW? I'm thinking about at least one trip up there this winter. Do you stay at a resort or motel?

Just got back from deer camp.....I was able to get a 6point buck not a monster but it will make some nice sausage. After not getting a deer last year I was pretty ancy and took the 1st one I saw. Which was a good thing because I didnt see another deer the rest of the week.

1900le....we go to Riverbend we have all our own gear... but for the LOW trip we take the lazy rout and just use their hut and have them do all the work its a lil more relaxing. Charlie the owner is a real nice guy and hes done us right every time. I know they have some of the cheapest rates thou if you wanted to bring your own gear and stay at one of their cabins. This will be are 4th year 10th trip with them.

I'll check them out. I've got all my own stuff, so that's not an issue. I just need a place to stay, cabin, motel, doesn't matter. Thanks

    • does it really matter? i mean its gonna be a 4-0/ 4-1 sweep by the yanks come playoff time. I know I know Im a terrible person
    • haven't had cable for 3+ years now if i can get my internet bill back down it will be great thinking of going back to frontier half the cost run netflix and antenna in the attic. most of the time i just check the news on the phone. other then that its disney movies. we do get some chatter since the metal roof went on but no big deal
    • can you post a pic of that feeder please? thx
    • Been hearing 2 pileated woodpeckers in the trees for a few days. Was hoping there was a chick around. It just flew in and I got a quick shot. Male chick. First time I have captured one.
    • What do you know 2 games in a row for Sano. Cron too, he's been the steadiest with the bat lately IMO. Thought I seen something about them getting a pitcher that the Angels let go. I'd love to see them pick up another lefty for the bullpen as well.
    • A lot of it depends on the bandwidth that you are paying for. They will limit your pipe. Best bet is to hook up a computer directly to you router and see what you get on your speed test. The mesh systems are  awesome for both range and through put, but any wireless router is only going to deliver on the bandwidth that your isp provides. If you find that your hard wire computer is a lot faster, the first step is to update the firmware on your wireless router and go from there.
    • I finally put out the blackbird proof suet feeder. The juvenile redwing blackbirds have recently moved in and have been gorging on the nutty butter. Never had any grackles so far, hence the reason I’ve waited until now to swap feeders. They haven’t been hitting the sunflower chips much, so I’ll hold off on swapping those feeders for now.
