free grouse mount

hi, i was wondering if any grouse hunters in the Ely area or nearby towns would be willing to lend me a grouse for my taxidermy class. it doesnt need to be the nicest grouse out there but somewhat decent looking. i will be willing to come and pick it up and then after i mount it in class you would be able to have the mount for free. the mount will be a breast mount (front half and tail feathers behind). i would appreciate any help, i have been out trying to get one but havent had any luck and should have kept the one i got last week. if anybody does happen to get a decent one and would be willing to help me out, email me at care9459 @ vcc.edu (minus the spaces) to set up arrangements/contact info.

I'll be out on some of the DNR walking trails near Cloquet on Thursday and if successful would be happy to donate a bird if i get one. But hopefully you'll find one closer to Ely.

I've got a ruff in the freezer, as well as a hungarian partridge, and a nice female sharptail. Bemidji is a bit away, but you'd be welcome to one of them...

I missed one tonight and seen another but couldnt get a shot, ill be out tomorrow and thursday and saturday.

Matt, i might take you up on the offer because we can do either a grouse or a pheasant and if i dont shoot a grouse i would have to go to a game farm and get a pheasant and the closest one i found was pequot lakes so bemidji wouldnt be as far as pequot, ill keep you updated and will let you know by saturday if i need it

I have a pheasant in my freezer however I am 40 mins south of the twin cities. But if you are willing to make a trip I am willing to give it to you. I found him frozen to the ground last year. Was going to save him for a mount practice of my own. As far as I know this bird has no holes unless he was wounded before he froze.

There is a game farm between Cook and Orr, just outside Gheen. I mapquested it and it is 65 miles from Ely. I am actually going there in a couple weeks with a friend. I bet if you called them and gave them your story they would sell you a bird no problem. Might even give it to you. Plus some good hunting area's on the drive over.

If you are heading home this weekend there are several game farms along the way. Do a google search.You can do better price wise with a larger farm near the metro area.

You still have time till the 26th to get your bird....

we dont need them until the 26th? i thought it was this monday the 12th. i was home this last weekend and was going to get pheasant from my dad because he raises them and ornamental pheasants but released all of his ringnecks from last years hatch and just had this years birds left.
