finding the public access on a lakemaster chip

kerryd15

Question

What is the easiest way to find the public access using the lakemaster micro sd card for garmin? In map view you have to be zoomed in to 300ft for the access to come up on the map, then try to scroll around the lake to find it. On a big lake it can take some time. using the nuvi 500.

In map view you have to be zoomed in to 300ft for the access to come up on the map,

You can configure the zoom level for revealing some features. Check your map setup screens.

Edit: You can also configure the font size of various types of information on your screen. This too is found on your map setup pages.

I refer to map setup pages because that's how my Garmin Rino120 is done. I also know this feature is available with GPSMap76, GPSMap60, and Etrex so I assume yours is similar.

I think you guys are right, you have to be zoomed in pretty good to get that data for the landing. I haven't played with the Nuvi enough to know if the landings show up as a point of interest or anything like that. I know that with the Nuvi I have ( without the lakemaster chip ) whenever someone goes on a trip, we set some of our destinations as Favorites in there before we go and that way you can just call them up quickly and navigate to them when you are on your trip.

If you happen to know what lakes you'll be going to, you can use the DNR's lake finder on their HSOforum, find the landings, then you should be able to find them on your Nuvi pretty easy and set that landing as a favorite.

If I find out something different with the 500, I'll let you know.

Do you have the Mapsource PC software to view the lake on your PC at home? I like to review a new lake before I leave so I know where things are. I sometimes can even create a route on my PC ahead of time, download it to my GPS, and let it lead me to the landing.
