I fished last night 8-11 pm pitching cranks, caught 6 walleyes, but were all small males 13-15" all cnr, i think the rain has helped out quite a bit, lakes around here were getting pretty stale, now at least i have a few spots to fish that has current i was using HJ,s pitched into 3-7 ft of water.

Was on a great crappie bite before the cold fronts and rain hit the west side of Wisconsin, had some good sized saugers going too. This morning however was a bust, a few crappies and not a sauger over 11 inches. This weather pattern has turned the bite I was on sour mad

Good day to watch the tube and play some Wii grin

i just got home from fishing this morning on forest lake... i left the house at 7, was on the water by 830. we launched at the public launch on lake #1. it was pretty windy out there on lake #1 so we trolled around a little bit with minnows and worms on spinners with bottom bouncers.. trolled all around the opening into that little bay to i believe the south side of the lake. trolled around muskie point or whatever it was called in my gps... no fish.. not even any bites.. we decided to go on the calm point just inside lake two and do some more trolling, so we did that.. still no fish.. we trolled deep, shallow, zig zaged and S turns in and outta the break line, fished around structure that was shown on my lakemaps card.. no fish.. we tried a few different spots around lake 2 jigging live bait and still no fish in the boat.. we also threw some cranks of all different depths INTO all of different depths to no avail.. also threw some muskie stuff for a little while when i was frustrated...

anybody have hints on where to try to pick up walleyes in the forest lake chain? any one of the three lakes specifically? live baits? cranks? any help would be appreciated... there were a bunch of other boats out on the forest lake chain this morning, most looked to be throwing for skies. it was chilly with a brisk breeze and sometimes a list mist of rain, but the weather wasnt all that bad actually.. i dressed in several layers and was just fine.

YESTERDAY, i went out on owasso in the NE metro and we fought the hard rain and wind and waves all morning.. got out about 9 and stayed out til about 1... we did a lot of casting for skies ALL over the lake.. trolled basically 1/2 of the shoreline on the entire lake. no skies. i did have a very large bite when i was trolling a worm on a spinner harness with a couple split shots.. the other 2 guys in my boat were throwing muskie gear at the time.. my spinner and worm got completely bitten off about half way up 3ft spinner line. could have been a stray ski or eye, possibly pike. we then decided to get out of the wind and go up on the north side of the lake and we did a bunch of jigging all different depths with live bait looking for eyes.. ended up hooking up with a couple small eyes and perch.. not very productive day.. cold and windy.. fish seemed NOT ACTIVE at all

anybody else have any reports? or hints on fishing in the forest lake chain. thanks

Let it calm down a bit, we are in a funky pattern now with this low front. Tommorrow (Sunday) would be a good day to troll for some walleyes, or flip for bass or ski's especially if its overcast. Monday sounds like another low front coming through till tuesday. We had a great september with consistant weather, not alot of wind and warm temps that brought the water temps up, and kept fish in summer patterns. Now mother nature is bringing in the fall, and with all this wind and rain and cooler temps the lakes could turnover on time like normal, which was not going to be the case about 2 weeks ago with the kind of weather we had. I personally got into a nice mess of bluegills last weekend before the front came through...tried for walleyes and crappie but those fish were still in summer patterns/spots, just like the bluegills were. If we get any consistant weather here in the next 2 weeks I'd try to get out before the lakes turnover and scatter the fish all over the water column for about 10 days (good time to do chores around the house, duck hunt or get some extra bow time in). Then after the lakes turnover or Post-turnover I'd fish pretty hard weather permitting, it is getting to be that time of year where you have to dress like you do for ice fishing and wear the life vest, don't wanna end up like that guy who died while ski fishing on Mille Lacs last year or the year before. Hope this helps ya'll
