skeeter boats?

I purchased a sx180 new in the fall of 01 it was a little light in the front end and drifted real fast in moderate winds other than that not bad for a smaller boat! trade in the spring of 2oo3 brand new tzx 190 and am currently in a 09 zx 190. no complaints out of either of them

I owned a 96' ZX180. About 5 yrs or so later, the ZX180 became the SX180 when they made upgrades to the ZX line. The boat rides bow high and is fairly fast on a calm day. My boat was rough riding in a good wind. I would have to run the trim down and get wet in a crosswind or else go fast and kill my back. You need to have at least a 50" shaft on the trolling motor or else it will pop out of the water in whitecaps. The boat is 18'3", and in my opinon too cramped for a dual console (a single fishes much better). My other complaint is that the gas tank covered the entire sump area. I had a bilge pump go out and I also upgraded the gps/sonar in my boat. As you can imagine, it was about a 2 day project to remove the gas and oil tank, batteries and trays, hoses, just access the area. Very poor engineering on skeeter's part. The newer models have changed, but you want to check on that on an older SX series boat. Fishability and storage were great for a boat that size. Mine held up very well except the vinyl seats wore out quickly. My gelcoat and finish looked great after even 10 yrs. The trailer had a lot of miles on gravel and rusted very quickly. It was a great boat that treated me well.

Here is a picture when I sold it in the fall of 07'. After 10 years it still looked great and turned heads.

she says house than boat. i got a boat out of her while we live in a apartment. i count my blessings. she actually just told me if i dont like my boat get the skeeter. only problem is i just bought my ranger this spring so its hard sell to upgrade after 5 months
