Replacing DCG Skirt Help

Dkoy

Recommended Posts

Looking for some help and tips on replacing DCG skirts. I have a few DCG that have been beat up from this season, basically missing the bottom skirt. Whats the best method of replacing these? Thinking about going out to TB and picking up some flashboo or something and tying it on.

Anyone done this that can relay a method that won't give me a headache?

if you use premade skirts you'll have to reshaft - good skill to have when you're on the boat or if you want to add your own magic to some bucktails.

if you want to retie the tinsel, pick up some red rod-building thread and head cement, wrap the thread around the coil a few times to hold it, dab of head cement, and wrap the tinsel on the coil. finish with more head cement.

you might get a headache if you leave the head cement open too long and are too close to it. observe. duplicate.

dido on the glittertails. On glittertails blades can be quickly changed out or the skirting. One year on LOTW they wanted nickel blades. I switched from orange blades to nickel and boated 7 fish up to 50. But I guess the gurus say color don't matter?????

That's got to be a terrible rumor started by someones non-fishing spouse, who has also been heard saying "why do you need more than one fishing rod? Do you really need that big of a tackle box? Didn't you buy everything you needed at the musky show?" And other well recognized comments smile
