I find it funny how the new hype is full moon, full moon, lets get out there for the full moon. Everyone and their mother is out there for the full moon. I laugh because I now plan my trips away from the full moon because I know what kind of crowd is going to be out there. In my experience, full moons can be good, but the weather is the deciding factor. My best fishing this year has not been during the full moon period.

Here is my take.......no matter what the moon phase is, just be on the water during sunset, sunrise, moon set and moonrise. The closer these conincide with each other the better it is. Was out on a lake on Saturday and caught two fish (47" and 36") within 15 minutes of each other, right at moon rise. What phase is the moon? 1/2 right now.

It depends on the lake... that is my experience.

Full moon is always my busiest time of the month. It is the time when we really rack up the numbers.

In some lakes, the fish bite better in the dark, and in others, the fish bite best when the moon is shining bright. You need to figure out which are which!

It is true... the full moon does bring out the crowds and on some lakes, it IS overrated. Some of that is the trend of the lake, and some of that is because of fishing pressure. But that is definitely not something you can assume for every lake.

Find the lakes where muskies bite under the light of the moon all night and you will be a happy camper.

Full Moon and new moon are the best times and the two you caught were around noon. That is what you are saying, isn't it?

I like the actual full moon day, but prefer the 3rd quarter, when the moon is still down at sunset but rises a short time later. Seems to kind of "spread out" the good opportunities a little after dark, without the full moon being up and bright. At least on those lakes that aren't great with a bright moon.
